Our second phase was steady but not outstanding because of the hectic schedule,continuous practise,travelling and playing.Robin Uthappa was the most useful and successful player besides Kallis.



But our run rate was one of the best.Another problem was our team selection.Because we had very good players it was very difficult for the management too.Our captain Anil Kumble had an outstanding record as the captain.Our top 4 was very good but the middle order mucked it up.I think we would have been in a much better situation had the person who anchored the innings should have had a better strike rate.I think that we would have had a better chance if we had rested Kallis for a few matches as he was playing a lot and we could have given steven smith a chance as he was a utility cricketer.But all in all it was a good campaign for the Royal Challengers of Bangalore as they marched in to the semifinals of IPL 2010. We had major changes this time.They were:- 1.Kumble was the captain for the entire season. 2.All the local players had done well in the Ranji Trophy. 3.We had International players with good T20 experience. 4.The International were regular in their National line ups. The second phase- Played-7 Won-3 Lost-4 Phase-2 Match-1 RCB vs KXI Result-Won All the bowlers except were taken some stick from the middle order of Kings IX Punjab .The fielding was fine.I think Kumble should have brought on himself much earlier and Vinay should have bowled after Steyn had bowled atleast 2 overs.Opening partnership was not good but KP played a match winning innings.He with Kohli stebilized the innings.And Robin Uthappa produced the fireworks at the end by winning and turning the match on our favour by hitting 25 runs in an Brett Lee over. Match-2 RCB vs DDD Result-Lost I think this game we were not the real RCB we are used to see.First of all 2 of our best fast bowlers were not playing.We should have stuck to the saame team because we were playing well and after this match we lost our momentum.The Cameroon White over that went for 19 runs changed the context of the match.Our batting was not good that match because the double DD's batted very well from the 14th over.This was the match that changed everything afterwords because our key players did not play. 3rd match-RCB vs DC result-Lost We lost because we maintained a very slow run-rate till the 15th over till Virat Kohli exploded.Kallis batted very slow.And our batsman found it difficult to cope with Pragyan Ojha's off spin and Symonds's medium pace.Our bowling was also not upto the mark this game as the local boy from Hyderabad T.Suman played really well this match. Match-4 RCB vs KKR result-Won Our bowling except S.Sriram and Praveen Kumar was outstanding in this match.The fielding was also very good as we got 2 run outs.Vinay Kumar bowled exceptionally well in this match.The batting looked fragile in this match until the wall Rahul Dravid and Robin Uthappa tore into the KKR attack.Uthappa tore the KKR attack by playing KP's trademark reverse sweeep against mystery bowler Ajantha Mendis. 5TH mATCH rcb VS dc RESULT-Lost Dale Steyn bowled very well in the beginning but the bowlers mucked it up in the middle overs allowing Rohit Sharma and Mohnish Mishra to attack.Kallis bowled very badly giving 10 runs an over but somehow we restricted them to 151.Kallis again took far too many balls for his 37 ball 27.Dravid again batted very well but there was too much pressure for the players coming after him.Uthappa tried very hard but this time Harmeet Sing's off cutters and slower balls were a source of destruction. Match-6 RCB vs RR result-Won All the bowlers bowled very well.Vinay bowled well and even got a run-out.Steyn was again our best bowler.We fielded well and restricted them to 130.Finally all our batsman attacked to settle down.And again KP stole the show winning the match for by scoring a 29 ball 62 with 10 fours and 2 sixes. Match-7 result-lost Steyn was once again our best bowler.But Pankaj Singh,Vinay Kumar and Kumble went for too many runs.Vinay and Pankaj Singh went for too many runs in the end by bowling length balls to Duminy,Pollard and Ambati Rayudu.And none of our batsman settled down save Kohli.All the batsman got out playing too many shots against an experienced bowling attack.All the batsman just slogged as soon as they arrived and lost their wicket instead of settling down and then slogging. Phase-3 Matches-2 Won-1 Lost-1 Match-1 Mumbai Indians vs Royal Challengers of Bangalore Result-Lost We would have had a better effort from our boys if we were playing in the red hot M.Chinaswamy stadium which is the best stadium in the country.Sad that the semis had been shifted to Mumbai but still we played very well.No matter what was the result we played very well. Our fighting spirit from our captain jumbo was just amazing who is also a legend in the making and is the first and only Indian to take 10 wickets in an innings.I bow to captain marvel Anil Kumble who played a key role to RCB's progress and even had the best economy rate for most of the IPL. The spinners bowled very well in this match.They conceded just 50 runs in 8 overs and even got 3 wickets.The pace bowlers only got some stick from the middle order of Mumbai which consisted of two youngsters who did very well in the IPL.They were Sourabh Tiwary and Ambati Rayudu and later the big West Indian who can smash any bowler out of the park whose name is Kieron Pollard.Dale Steyn bowled well in the beginning to take 2 wickets but in the end he bowled lenth balls which were meant to be hit out of the park.Vinay and Praveen Kumar with Kallis bowled too many length balls after the batsman were set.Although the spinners were bowling at a crucial point of time when Mumbai team was just coming into the match.I think the pace bowlers should have come at that time so the spinners would have come during the time Pollard came because no batsman likes to start against a Kumble or any other batsman. Another thing was that when we were batting the Mumbai team bowled fuller yourkers to the batsman of our team so that they couldn't pull out their big shots.Whereas we had bowled length balls to the likes of Pollard and Tiwary.No one except Taylor and Uthappa could settle down.All the other players didn't convert their starts.I think this was not the real Rcb performance we are used to see. Match-2 Royal Challengers of Bangalore vs Hyderabad Deccan Chargers Result-Won Our bowling was just awsome,amazing,rocking and the best in this match.Captain marvel Anil Kumble led from the from the front by taking his opponent captain and one of the most dangerous players Adam Gilchrist in his first over and proceeded to take 4 wickets and he was well supported by his co bowlers Steyn,Praveen,Nayan,Kallis and Akhil to restrict the chargers for a mere 83 all out.And our top 3 bats did it themselves with Dravid and Pietersen playing good knocks after the depart of Kallis. I hope the the Royal Challengers of Bangalore march along and continue their march and win the Airtel Champions League and win the tournament.
