2nd Unofficial Test heads to a draw
Vinay Kumar put in a fine all round performance on Day 2 of the 2nd unofficial Test between India A and New Zealand A at the Bert Sutcliffe Oval in Lincoln, New Zealand.
Helped by massive tons from Mandeep Singh (193) and Ashok Menaria (173) and fifties from Anustup Majumdar (56) and Vinay Kumar (50*) after winning the toss and choosing to bat first, India A posted a huge 554/8 before declaring shortly after Lunch on Day 2.
Vinay then had George Worker LBW off the first ball of the innings, the second time in the series to give India A another great start. B Kumar then removed Tom Latham before Vinay returned to claim Neil Broom (16), fighting back after a 83 run partnership between Latham (28) and Hamish Rutherford (99) for the second wicket. B Kumar finished with 3 wickets on Day 2 as NZ stumbled to 198/5 at Stumps.
NZ A fought back well to bring themselves back in the game on Day 3 and they succeeded, discovering the assistance the pitch had for batsmen. Nightwatchman Luke Woodcock (58) and Dean Brownlie added 107 for the sixth wicket to frustrate the Indians before Brownlie (106) added another 110 for the seventh wicket with Sam Wells (69), helping NZ A declare on 424/7.
