5 runs and a few minutes: India down 0-1 in SA

It was a matter of 5 runs and few minutes on the fifth day that South Africa took to complete an innings and 25 runs demolition of India and go one up in the 3-Test match series. Sachin Tendulkar's magic couldn't alter the hopeless situation that India got into. Sachin remained unbeaten on 111, but wore a defeated attire as he saw Shreeshanth and Unadkat fall at the other end. If Laxman and Ra$ina could have added some meat on fourth day, then the inevitable would have been prolonged by a session perhaps. Or may be not, who knows! But lets not burn the midnight oil on things which could have or should have altered the result of match. Rather, it's better to get the energy flowing for the rest of the series and salvage the pride - the pride of being the numero uno of Test Cricket in the world.

For the Challengers, there was something to cheer, though all the good news came from the South African side. Jacques Kallis was selected the Man of the Match for his maiden double hundred which formed the platform for South African huge total in the first place. Kallis said during the post match interview, "It was a very special moment. It was a good all-round effort from us, we put in a good performance on day one which put us ahead of the eight-ball. Centurion is a big scoring ground and we came into this Test looking to be very positive with both bat and ball." Another Challenger, Dale Steyn took four wickets in the second innings and finished with match figures of 7/138.
