A dear loss for Team RC
Fielding, batting failed Team Royal Challengers today against South Australian Redbacks, who romped home with 8 wickets and almost two overs to spare.
The loss was felt dearly, as it was the first loss on South African soil this season for RC. It was dear, because the team was virtually shouldered by the three batsmen - Taylor (46off 28), Dillon Du Preez (46 off 25) and Cameron White (25 off 29). All the others couldn't even reach double figures!

The loss was dearer, as the batting completely failed. The scoreline should have read 180 plus instead of 150 plus, which eventually made the difference in the match.
The loss was heartfelt, as the fielding was, to the best sloppy. Young guns like Manish Pandey, Virat Kohli were seen fumbling. The bowling lacked penetration and depth.
The loss would reverberate more, as none of the Indian batsmen clicked on this day on a wicket which surely was helping the bowlers, but didnt have any demons for the batsmen too.
The loss became unbearable, as Team RC, being one of the pre-tournament favourites, threw the advantage as early as the first few overs of the innings and then later, while fielding. Redbacks never came into the tournament with any big pre-fixes, but played basic cricket as a unit, as a team. Their game emanated unity, even though individual brilliance do have their rightful place in cricket. But a unified team, playing for a long time, perhaps stands better chance to win than a team which gets assembled a few days before a tournament. Perhaps, that was the difference today.
But if it was anything that was lost today, it would have been the confidence of Team RC. It got a severe beating for sure. Team RC sorely missed the services of Jacques Kallis, who was out with a sore back.
Having said all that, and dealt with all the negatives, we still remember that this team is playing their fifth tournament together. This team knows how to pick up the pieces and strike back when it is required the most. Perhaps a drubbing was required to shed the complacency tag. Redbacks, with three wins, becomes the first team to enter the semi-finals of Airtel CLT20. Team RC's next two games against Mumbai Indians and the Lions. Convincing wins against them would perhaps balance out the loss.
