AB de Villiers sets up narrow SA win in warm ups
AB de Villiers struck 54 in South Africa's 9 run win over New Zealand in their World Twenty20 warm up game at the Colts Cricket Club Ground in Colombo on Monday.
SA made a good start after New Zealand put them in to bat first. AB arrived in the middle with the score 60/2 in the 8th over. He slammed a 28 ball half century, adding 62 for the fourth wicket with JP Duminy (30) off 41 deliveries as SA posted an imposing total of 186/6. AB was dismissed on 54 (30b, 4x5, 6x2).
Ross Taylor played a blinder of a knock, hitting 75 (42b, 4x2, 6x7) and adding 94 for the fourth wicket with Rob Nicol (37) before Dale Steyn killed the chase with 3 wickets in the penultimate over. New Zealand ended on 177/8 in their 20 overs, giving South Africa a 9 run win.
