AB hammers ton, defies Chokers tag
AB de Villiers underlined his statement made prior to the start of the World cup with a powerpacked century to guide South Africa to a convincing 7 wickets victory over West Indies with more than 7 overs to spare. His 107 in 105 balls undermined another great ODI debut for teammate, legspinner Imran Tahir who captured 4 wickets to send West Indies crashing to only 222.

Royal Challenger AB, who earlier had reiterated that South Africa is no longer wearing the chokers tag, was bent on proving his statement right as he batted with controlled aggression to take his team to victory. The Proteas were precariously placed at 20/2 at one stage and it looked like a collapse was imminent. But skipper Graeme Smith combined with AB to notch up 119 runs for the third wicket to steer SA out of potential danger.
The win also proved how well prepared the Proteas have come into this World Cup. His unbeaten 107 came off 105 deliveries with 8 hits to the fence and two over it reflects the domination that he portrayed over the Windies bowlers. In the end, the victory looked easy, but the work behind it was all in the mind.
