Abrar, Saurabh light up Hazare Trophy
Royal Challengers Bangalore players Abrar Kazi and Saurabh Tiwary put in impressive performances on Sunday for their respective domestic sides in the ongoing Vijay Hazare Trophy.
Karnataka were propped up to a score of 275 in their match against Andhra Pradesh at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore on Sunday thanks to a 104 from Robin Uthappa and 42 from Mayank Agarwal.
Abrar Kazi took 4/33 in Karnataka’s defense as they Andhra were bowled out for 219. The 56 run win helped Karnataka finish on top of the South Zone points table.
Saurabh Tiwary’s 76 off 83 wasn’t enough for Jharkhand to chase down the 301 run target that Assam set them in the East Zone clash at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata. The team slid to a 46 run defeat, bowled out for 255 with runs coming only from wicketkeeper Shiv Gautam who made 124 and from their captain Tiwary.
The Cheteshwar Pujara led Saurashtra failed in a chase against arch rivals Baroda at the Bandra Kurla Complex in Mumbai. Pujara’s 32 was the third highest score for his team Sheldon Jackson’s 117 and Kuldeep Raval’s 38 but it was too little for his team. Saurashtra folded for 263 chasing Baroda’s 315, losing the West Zone encounter by 52 runs.
