Australia hold edge after close warm up game
Australia managed to finish just ahead in their 2 day warm up game against the Board President’s XI which ended in a draw in Chennai on Wednesday.
Parvez Rassol from Jammu and Kashmir took 7/45 with his offspin while Ed Cowan top scored with 58 in Australia’s first innings as the visitors were bowled out for 241.
Australia struck with regular wickets, Moises Henriques’s accurate medium pace accounting for the Mandeep Singh and his RCB teammate Abhinav Mukund (21). Ambati Rayudu waged a lone battle with his attacking 87, finding brief support from Parthiv Patel (23) and Rassol (36).
Rayudu was the 8th wicket to fall with his team 28 runs away from levelling with Australian score. Shami Ahmed’s violent cameo closed the gap to 13 runs but Henriques returned to bowl the BP’s XI out for 229, Australia taking an 11 run lead. Henriques finished with impressive figures of 4/12 from his 9.3 overs.
Glenn Maxwell and Usman Khawaja batted out 4 overs to take Australia to 15/0 at the close of play.
