Batsmen put Karnataka in control

Karnataka batsmen came back to form as they strummed up 302/4 at sumps on day 3 to press for an outright victory over Baroda in the Ranji Trophy super league match at Mysore here today. The overall lead for Karnataka now stands at 390 and an overnight declaration may very much be on the cards by Karnataka skipper Vinay Kumar to give himself and his bowlers the early morning advantage against Baroda.

The top order of Karnataka were amongst the runs today with Manish Pandey (42) missing out on a 50, but Ganesh Satish (76), Amit Verma (77 not out) and Stuart Binny (60 not out) made full use of the opportunity to get some valuable batting practice, while there was enough time in hand for skipper Vinay to declare.

In another match, Srivatsa Goswami, playing for Bengal missed his 50 by a whisker when he was out for 49, against Saurashtra. Bengal reached to 295/5 at sumps in reply to Saurashtra's 423.
