Challengers fly high in SA’s win

Royal Challengers flag flew high in South Africa’s 5-0 whitewash over the West Indies.

Roelof Van der Merwe’s first ball boundary in the last over when South Africa required 7 to win and a polished 57 by Jacques Kallis earlier paved the way for a nail-biting victory for South Africa with just 2 balls and one wicket to spare.

Royal Challengers' flag flew high in South Africa’s 5-0 whitewash over the West Indies.

Roelof Van der Merwe’s first ball boundary in the last over when South Africa required 7 to win and a polished 57 by Jacques Kallis earlier paved the way for a nail-biting victory for South Africa with just 2 balls and one wicket to spare.

Requiring 7 off 6 balls of Keiron Pollard’s over with only a wicket remaining, Van der Merwe despatched the first ball to the boundary to let know his aggressive intentions. Merwe, who plays for Royal Challengers in IPL, earlier had bowled a miserly spell giving away 27 runs in his 10 overs to keep the West Indian batsmen on check.

Another Royal Challenger who has been very consistent in the South African triumph in the series was Kallis, who again batted with conviction and power to score 57 off 55 balls to provide the Proteans a solid foundation.

Though Mark Boucher was stripped of his wicket keeper’s position, but one cannot keep a Royal Challenger out of the game. Fielding at covers, Boucher flung in the air to pick up a blinder to send Darren Bravo packing.
