Chennai keeps India smiling at CLT20

Before Team Royal Challengers could take the field in the Airtel Champions Leangue T20 tournament proper, Chennai Super Kings kept the Indian diaspora buzzing with a thumping win over the Central Districts. With Mumbai Indians tasting defeat in the inaugural game on Friday, it was left for IPL champions CSK to keep the Indian flag flying high in CLT20. MS Dhoni and his men displayed their courage even though the batsmen proved to be a big let down, failing to adapt to the conditions.

CSK could manage only 151 in the 20 overs, having lost too many wickets in the initial period, to have lost the momentum during the middle and death overs. Badrinath was the only exception amongst the batsmen with a polished unbeaten 52 which helped CSK to cross 150 eventually. However, the batsmen's lack of form was compensated by some superb performances by the bowlers, especially Laxmipathy Balaji who finished with figures of 3/20. Central Districts could manage only 94 against a hostile bowling attack which included Muttiah Muralitharan (2/15), Ashwin (2/28) and Bollinger (2/10).
