Cheteshwar Pujara climbs up ICC rankings
Cheteshwar Pujara’s Man of the Match winning 204 in the Hyderabad Test against Australia has pushed him to a career best 11th spot in the ICC Test Championship Batting rankings.
Pujara scored the second double hundred and fourth hundred of his nascent Test career enroute becoming the second fastest Indian to cross 1000 Test runs at Hyderabad. His record 370 run stand with Murali Vijay in the game was crucial in India’s win by an innings and 135 runs which put them 2-0 up in the Border-Gavaskar Series.
Cheteshwar jumped 12 places to a ranking of 11. R Ashwin, who took 12 wickets in the first Test and 6 in the second Test moved up to 8th in the ICC Test Championship Bowling rankings and no. 3 in the ICC Test Championship All-Rounder rankings.
