Chris Gayle laid low by groin injury

Royal Challengers Bangalore allrounder Chris Gayle will miss the rest of the Bangladesh Premier League after picking up a groin injury on Thursday.

Chris Gayle sustained the injury during the match between his team the Barisal Burners and Chittagong Kings at Shere Bangla Stadium in Mirpur on Thursday. With Barisal batting first, Gayle had made 30 off 16 balls when he was forced to retire hurt. The seriousness of the injury was immediately apparent when he didn't take the field for Barisals bowling.

The injury forced Gayle out of action for a minimum of three weeks which means the Jamaican will miss the rest of the BPL and the first half of the South American domestic T20 tournament in which he was scheduled to play for the Dolphins. The SA tournament goes on till March 30 after which Gayle was to join RCB for IPL 5 which begins on April 4th.

Gayle was in marvelous form in the BPL, slamming two hundreds within his first week in the tournament.
