Chris Gayle named in West Indies Test squad
Chris Gayle made a return to the West Indian Test squad after a 19 month hiatus.
Gayle was named as a part of the squad for the first Test of the home series against New Zealand. He last played in a Test for West Indies in November-December 2010 on a tour of Sri Lanka. The series saw Gayle hit 333 in the first Test, his second triple hundred and his highest score surpassing his 317 against South Africa hit in 2005.
Gayle’s comments against WICB practices in a subsequent radio interview saw him being dropped from the national squads for all formats till reconciliation in June 2012.
His return is a boon to the WI Test team who are without Darren Bravo, their 2nd highest scorer in Tests in 2011-12. Bravo is currently recuperating from a groin injury he sustained while playing the first Test against Australia in April this year.
