Chris Gayle returns to Sydney Thunder
Chris Gayle extended his association with the Big Bash League side the Sydney Thunder, signing with them for the 2012-13 season after having played for them in the inaugural season in 2011-12.
Gayle joined his Royal Challengers Bangalore teammate Dirk Nannes at Thunder. Nannes had moved to the Sydney franchise from the Melbourne Renegades last week.
Sydney Thunder finished last in the first season of the BBL, winning only 2 of their 7 games despite Gayle's heroics, missing their skipper David Warner who was away on Australia duty. Gayle scored 252 runs including a 100* and two fifties, averaging 42 with a strike rate of 150 in Thunder's 2011-12 season.
Thunder also announced the signing of Shahid Afridi along with Chris Gayle, making them one of the favourites for the title despite their poor first season.
