Cool Kohli wins it for India
It was triumph of the youth, as an young Indian team bereft of the big names, fielding two rookies – Saurabh Tiwary and Shikhar Dhawan – pulled off an amazing chase of close to 300 runs. The man of the moment was a fellow Royal Challenger, Virat Kohli. His explosive but controlled century paved the way for the victory and it was Suresh Raina who saw to it that India didn’t slip in the end.

The second ODI started off with Aussie skipper Michale Clarke’s sparkling century. But it was another Royal Challenger in the Australian ranks who stole the limelight – Cameron White! His hard hitting 49-ball 89 studded with six 6s threatened to be the difference between the two teams. But Kohli, White’s teammate in Team Royal Challengers, was a man possessed with grit, determination and courage today. He outshone White and with a splendid effort made India’s victory special with a fantastic chase.
In the course, Kohli also bagged the Man of the Match award. Later, at the post match interview, he told, “The team has shown trust in me to bat at No.3 and I'll just look to capitalise. Once the dew came in, the ball was coming on quite nicely and we tried to take advantage on that.”
The ODI and Royal Challengers became synonymous in this match as the club teammates competed against each other and came out with flying colours. As many as five Royal Challengers were in the field in the opposing teams tonight. Apart from White, Virat there were Steven Smith (Australia), Praveen Kumar and Vinay Kumar for India. The last three were not that successful tonight in terms of performance but the first two – White and Kohli – covered the others with theirs’.
But in the end, it was Cool Kohli who won the battle of supremacy from White. Now how cool is that?
