Daniel Christian: I’ve always admired RCB
Australian all-rounder and T20 veteran Daniel Christian joined the RCB camp yesterday. One of RCB’s newest signings, Dan admits to being an admirer of the team.
Here he talks about his new team, his role and playing in the BBL.
“I have admired watching RCB go about their work in the past two years (while) being at Deccan Chargers, so I was very pleased after the auction when I found out I was coming to RCB.
“Yeah, (I’m) very much looking forward to playing with Chris Gayle. Having had to bowl to him a fair bit in the past (laughs), I am looking forward to not having to do that.”
His role at RCB
“I will catch up with Ray Jennings and also (captain) Virat Kohli when he gets here. I will talk about how they want me to fit in.
More than likely it will be batting somewhere in the middle and offering some overs like I normally do for most of my other teams.”
His edge, he says lies in the number of T20s he plays around the year. “I suppose it’s just that little bit more experience of playing in the 20-30 games I end up playing each year. You tend to learn more and more as you continue to play.”
BBL vs IPL
Daniel Christian was crucial in the Brisbane Heat’s victorious 2012-13 Big Bash League campaign. He talks about the experience in the two most dynamic T20 leagues.
“The popularity (of Big Bash) in Australia is massive, but obviously not like the IPL since you have got a lot more people in India than we do. They are both fantastic competitions and it's a pleasure and an honour to play in both.”
