Daniel Vettori sidelined with hamstring injury
Royal Challengers Bangalore skipper Daniel Vettori had to sit out of the second Test match between Australia and New Zealand at Hobart with a hamstring injury.
Vettori has suffered injuries to his left hamstring repeatedly and the problem was aggravated just half an hour before the start of the match being played at the Bellerive Oval.
Vettori has enjoyed a good personal run as an allrounder in the squad since stepping down from the captaincy, playing an important role in NZ’s win against Zimbabwe and impressing in the first Test against Australia of the Chappell Hadlee Trophy at Brisbane which NZ lost.
"Unfortunately Dan sustained a recurrence of his left hamstring injury that has been problematic for him over the last few years," said team physiotherapist Paul Close.
"We expect him to be rehabbing the injury and back to full fitness within three to four weeks. We are confident he will be back to play some domestic cricket at some stage in the New Year."
Fortunately for the Black Caps, their next assignment, a one-off Test against Zimbabwe is not until the end of January by when Vettori is expected to be fit.
