Dilshan missed the double ton by a whisker may be along with the chance of becoming the first Lankan to post a 200 at Lords, but his 193 marked the highest by a Lankan on the ground. 253 deliveries with 20 boundaries and two over the ropes, Dilshan stood defiant most of the rain curtailed 3rd day's play living on the edge with his uppish cuts and square drives. But more than anything else, the will to survive and score rapidly forced England on the backfoot.
Sri Lanka perhaps is still not out of danger, especially after the way the fifth day turned out for them in the first Test when they were all out for a paltry 86 to lose the Test. But Dilshan's innings today can inspire the rest of the team to raise above mediocrity and snatch an improbable victory perhaps at Lords.
