Dilshan on a roll against Bangladesh
Tillakaratne Dilshan struck his second hundred in 3 games with his 125 in the 3rd ODI against Bangladesh at Pallekele on Thursday. Bangladesh chased down a revised target after a rain break to win the game by 3 wickets and level the series 1-1.
Dilshan added 116 with Kusal Perera (56, 66b, 5x4, 1x6) for the first wicket and 87 for the second wicket with Kumar Sangakkara (48, 49b, 5x4) for the second wicket after Angelo Mathews won the toss and chose to bat first.
He was very busy at the crease bringing up his 50 off just 53b with just 4 fours and 100 off 110b with 8 fours. But he had to watch SL slide from 203/1 to 238/6 before adding 25 for the 7th wicket with Lahiru Thirimanne (25, 15b, 1x4, 2x6). After Dilshan’s dismissal for 125 (128b, 12x4) in the 47th over, Thirimanne helped SL scrape through to 302/9 in their 50 overs.
Bangladesh made a good start, reaching 77 in the 13th over before Mohammad Ashraful was dismissed. They were on 78/1 in 13.4 overs when rain held up play. When the match resumed, Bangladesh's target had been revised to 183 off 27 overs.
Although Lasith Malinga (2/29) and Sachithra Senanayake (2/26) kept chipping away at the batting line up, Nasir Hossain anchored a successful chase with his 33* (27b, 6x4).
Bangladesh overhauled the target with 1 over to spare, posting 184/7 to seal a 3 wicket win and level the ODI series 1-1. Sri Lanka won the first ODI at Hambantota by 8 wickets thanks to Dilshan's first ton in the series while the second ODI at the same venue was rained off after just 5 overs of play.
Dilshan made 248 runs in the series with scores of 113*, 10* and 125, giving him a stunning average of 248.
