Dilshan ton gives SL 76 run win
RCB's Tilllakaratne Dilshan struck an unbeaten 119* in the second ODI against Pakistan at Pallekele to set up a 76 run win for Sri Lanka on Saturday.
Dilshan batted through the innings after Sri Lanka won the toss and chose to bat first. Pakistan’s bowlers found taking wickets was much than it was a few days ago when they had kept SL down to 135/8 in 42 overs.
SL’s batsmen built sturdy partnerships around Dilshan and the opener looked good for a ton by the time he brought up his 50 off 60 deliveries. The ton eventually came off 120 deliveries and he ended on 119* off 139b with eleven fours and one six. He received support from Dinesh Chandimal (32) and Mahela Jayawardene (53) as they added 70 and 86 runs for the 3rd and 4th wicket partnerships respectively. Thisara Perera helped SL finish on a high, slamming 24 off 14 as they posted a massive 280/4.
Pakistan made a decent start with their openers adding 48 for the first wicket before Mohammad Hafeez was dismissed. Azhar Ali starred in two more partnerships with Younis Khan and Misbah ul Haq but none of the other batsmen could chip in at all.
Perera ran amok, dismissing the top order before Kulasekara snatched Ali (96), the fifth wicket to fall with the score on 157. The tail mustered another 47 runs and Pakistan were bowled out for 204, Perera finishing with 6/44.
SL were trailing 1-0 in the 5 ODI series but the 76 run win helped them level the series 1-1.
