Dilshan ton props up SL
Royal Challengers Bangalore batsman Tillakaratne Dilshan struck his 13th Test hundred in the first Test against Pakistan at the Galle International Stadium on Friday.
Sri Lanka won the toss and chose to bat first only to see Tharanga Paranavitana make a shaky start. Dilshan played his usual attacking cricket at the other end, bringing up his 50 off just 49 deliveries before the Saeed Ajmal and Abdur Rehman applied the brakes.
Paranavitana (24) was stumped off Ajmal but Kumar Sangakkara and Dilshan saw them off and took SL to 94/1 at lunch. Progress was much slower after lunch but the batsmen were never in any discomfort. Dilshan brought up his 100 with a four off Rehman. Saeed Ajmal had him LBW in the next over for 101 (235m 180b 13x4 1x6) and tea was taken.
Mahela Jayawardene and Sangakkara were chanceless in the next session, taking Sri Lanka to 300/2 at Stumps on Day 1. Sangakkara caught up with Sir Don Bradman, bringing up his 29th Test ton, ending the day on 111*. Jayawardene was unbeaten on 55* at the other end.
