Dirk Nannes signs with Sydney Thunder
Royal Challengers Bangalore speedster Dirk Nannes signed with the Sydney Thunder in the 2012-13 Big Bash League transfer window.
Sydney Thunder finished last in the inaugural edition of the BBL held in 2011-12 despite the heroics of an in-form Chris Gayle in the side. Nannes’s old team the Melbourne Renegades finished one place ahead at seventh.
Renegades have lost crucial players in the transfer window including pacer Shaun Tait, batsman Brad Hodge and their captain Andrew McDonalds while their only major signing this season is Royal Challengers Bangalore spinner Muttiah Muralitharan.
"I have always enjoyed the challenge of new experiences, with new places, faces, and cricketing environments to work in," said Nannes. "Sydney Thunder is a unique ground and environment to play in. With such short boundaries, big crowds and a variable pitch, you need to adjust your game accordingly. Fortunately, it is a ground that I have always managed to play well at, and I will be giving my best for that form to continue."
