England level series after a convincing win at the Ageas Bowl
Here's the match report of the 3rd Investec Test match between England and India held at the Ageas Bowl:
England ended their 10 Test winless drought with a 266-run victory against India in the 3rd Investec Test match at the Ageas Bowl. Moeen Ali took the Indian batting line-up by surprise with impressive second innings figures of 6/67.
Earlier, England bowled out India for 330 after setting a match-defining first innings score of 569. Instead of enforcing the follow-on, England captain Alastair Cook decided to bat again as he celebrated his return to form with scores of 95 and 70*. Cook declared the England innings at 205/4 just before Tea and set India a target of 445. The declaration gave the England bowlers enough time to take 4 Indian wickets at the end of Day 4.
The writing was on the wall for India as the visitors weren't able to fare well against Ali and Man of the Match James Anderson’s incisive bowling and bowled out for 178. Ajinkya Rahane battled hard for India with scores of 54 and 52* in the match.
The 5-match Test series is currently tied at 1-1. India will look to start afresh and hope for their top batsman Virat Kohli to return to form in the fourth Test at Manchester.
