Gayle creates history in Tests
Chris Gayle smashed a six off the first ball of the first Test between Bangladesh and West Indies at the Shere Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur on Tuesday.
In doing so, he became the first man in the 135 year history of the format to hit a six off the first ball of a Test match. Moreover, the delivery was the first of Bangladeshi debutant off spinner Sohag Gazi’s career. The fourth ball of the over was also dispatched over the ropes to make it a horror over for Gazi.
Gayle however only managed 24 before he holed out at long off, giving Gazi the first Test wicket of his career. Helped by a double hundred from former RCBian Shivnarine Chanderpaul and tons from Kieran Powell and Denesh Ramdin, West Indies went on to post 527/4 before declaring.
