Gayle’s loss is Murali’s gain in BPL
Royal Challengers Bangalore all rounder Chris Gayle retired hurt early in his innings in his team Barisal Burners's match against Muttiah Muralitharan’s Chittagong Kings in the Bangladesh Premier League on Thursday. Chittagong Kings won the match at Shere Bangla Stadium in Mirpur, Dhaka by 8 wickets, posting 126/2 after the Burners managed 125/6 in their innings.
The Chittagong Kings skipper Mahmudullah must have rued his decision to field first after Chris Gayle came out swinging. Gayle raced to 30 off just 16 balls with two fours and three sixes already in his innings when he was laid low by a groin injury. Gayle had to leave the field, not to take part in the rest of the game as his team crawled to 125/6 in their 20 overs.
Bowling for the Chittagong Kings, newly acquired Royal Challengers Bangalore spinner Muttiah Muralitharan went wicketless in his fourth out five BPL matches that he has played so far. The spinner however didn't bowl out his quota of overs, bowling only two overs and conceding just 6 runs off them.
The Barisal Burners were woeful in their defence, taking only two wickets. The Kings posted 126 in just 12.4 overs to hand the Burners an 8 wicket defeat, going to the top of the points table while the Burners remained at 4. Both teams have played 5 matches each with 5 more to go.
