Groin injury rules Gayle out of SLPL
West Indies and Royal Challengers Bangalore talisman Chris Gayle has been ruled out of the inaugural edition of the Sri Lankan Premier League due to a recurring groin injury.
One of the top draws of the tournament, Chris Gayle is the designated icon player and captain of Uva Next having signed a three year deal with the franchise. His RCB teammate Andrew McDonald too is a part of the Uva Next team.
Gayle injured his groin problem earlier in February while playing in the Bangladesh Premier League. He missed the entire MiWAY T20 Challenge in South Africa where he was signed by the Dolphins and missed some of RCB’s early games in the 2012 IPL.
The problem flared up again during the second Test between West Indies and New Zealand in Jamaica last week, forcing the southpaw to take a break for recovery.
