Sitting besides skipper Anil Kumble, young turk Virat Kohli was ecstatic to have guided Team Royal Challengers to the semi-finals of the Champions League T20 tournament. “I was disappointed in the match against Mumbai Indians not to have won it. Tonight I had the opportunity to finish the game I am happy that I could do it.”
Thanking Kumble and coach Ray Jennings for relying on him, Kohli said, “I could get my eyes set in and was stroking quiet freely.” But was patience running out in the middle overs? “Whitey (Cameron White) told me to be patient. We needed just one good over and we got that on the 16th,” referring to the 19 runs that Kohli clubbed in that over which made the win look easy eventually.
Reacting to Robin Uthappa’s run out, Kohli admitted that it was a “silly mistake on his part”. “But Robin is a friend and I hope he wouldn’t mind it,” he chipped in with a smile. Sure Robin wouldn’t. The team has just entered the semis!
