Huge responsibility: Kumble now is the NCA boss

Anil Kumble’s knowledge of the game has been hitherto tapped by cricketing bosses of International shores. His adept handling of Team Royal Challengers to two Champion Leagues T20 appearances, apart from appearing in the finals and semifinals of IPL in the last two editions were proofs enough of the gutsy former Indian skipper’s capability to give back to cricket. And now, Kumble will continue his responsibility as the new chairman of National Cricket Academy, the platform of future national cricketers, situated in Bangalore.

A strict disciplinarian on and off the field, Kumble, after being appointed in the new role, said, “It’s a huge responsibility. It’s a job that will require a lot of time and patience. Fortunately, I am in Bangalore and so is the NCA. That makes the task slightly easier. A new NCA is on its way and it will be nice to be involved in that process from the very beginning,” according to reports.

Kumble, however, doesn’t really see himself to be coaching the budding cricketers, but more in the role of putting right processes in place and close monitoring in the implementation of the same. He stressed on to the need of a “pipeline of talent pool” while ensuring the present batch of cricketers to stay focussed on the game both physically and mentally and not get distracted by money and fame.
