Ind vs WI 2nd Test: Hosts take series with innings win
It was a fitting farewell to one of India’s greatest batsmen, Sachin Tendulkar as India wrapped up the 2nd Test by an innings and 126 runs against West Indies in three days at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai, thereby sealing a 2-0 series win.
Day 1 and 2 witnessed all the action as West Indies were bundled out for 182 in the first innings, to which India responded with a staggering 495. Pragyan Ojha registered a fifer, while R Ashwin picked 3 wickets for India. Cheteshwar Pujara (113) and Rohit Sharma (111*) recorded their respective hundreds, along with Virat Kohli (57), Sachin Tendulkar (74) who got to their fifties as well.
The visitors’ 2nd innings didn’t last long either, as from an overnight score of 43/3 on Day 2; they collapsed for 187 in an extended first session on Day 3. Once again, Ojha was at the helm of action, taking another five-wicket haul. He finished with overall figures of 10/228. Ashwin joined in with four wickets to his credit.
With this win, India has recorded its biggest Test victory against the West Indies in terms of margin – an innings and 126 runs, as well as their ninth such by an innings under MS Dhoni.
