The coolest RCB updates, served hot.

India should continue the momentum

Fortune favours the brave, goes the saying. However, clichéd it may be, but India rode through some patchy moments via Virendra Sehwag and Sachin Tendulkar to score some crucial points when needed as India wrested the initiative from the Lankans on the second of the third and final Test, which needs to win desperately to square the series. Sehwag’s blazing unbeaten 97 and Sachin’s unbeaten 40 wouldn’t be considered as chanceless innings so far, but when you are chasing time, nobody remembers how many chances you offered.

Looking at the bigger picture, bowling down the Lankans on 425, India showed intent and purpose in their reply scoring at more than 5 runs per over. Murli Vijay and Rahul Dravid, the two wickets to fall for India also showed a positive intent to score briskly. But it was Sehwag who stole the show from the Lankans. His blazing shots on both sides of the wicket laid the perfect platform for India to go for the kill on a batting easy strip. Sachin was crisp too, but in patches.

Earlier, Lanka rode on Samaraweera’s magnificent century to post a 400 plus total. India now needs to maintain the momentum to obtain a lead, even a slender one, and let Lanka bat for the as quickly as possible on the third day to force an outcome in this Test match.
