India vs Bangladesh: First Test: Day 5
Along the expected line, India wrapped up the first Test with a 113 runs victory against Bangladesh. The win was delayed by a valiant effort by the nippy Bangla wicketkeeper Mushfiqur Rahim who cracked a century, but failed to prevent India from going up 1-0 in the two test series. In the end, it was very “ordinary” batting by the Bangla batsmen that dug them in on the last day of the test.

It was a wicket that slowed down considerably, becoming an easier track to bat. However, Bangladesh side was playing a different game in the field, it seemed. Perhaps they forgot it was easier to hang in there on this wicket which could have saved them the match. Rather, they played a game more suited for the ODIs. That was very “ordinary” from Bangla’s point of view. Flashing outside the stumps, attempting adventurous upper cuts was not exactly what was prescribed to a side fighting to save a test match. But Bangla batsmen lived dangerously to hurriedly bring on their death.
Extra-ordinary was the effort by Rahim. Like his colleagues, he too started off nothing much to care on saving the match, but atleast he was hitting the ball neatly. The only time he really mistimed was after he completed his maiden century in Test cricket – in 112 balls, the fastest for a Bangla batsman in Test cricket.
In the morning, it was good to see Ishant Sharma getting his rhythm back and bowl with venom. He was getting the ball cut back in and out to force edges from the batsmen. Zaheer was in his usual aggressive best. Mishra was also concealing his googlies better to fox the opponents.
In the end, it was a professional display by the number one Test side. It would have been a real upset had India not won this match. This series, winning only be considered “ordinary” for India.

I think Bangladesh did quite well to take the game into the fifth day. There were days when the match would get over in 4 days, all that seems to be behind them. It's a young team and they are learning!
They did bowl us out for 243, how many times have u seen two bowlers take a five wicket haul in the same inning? It's good for the team. India have to do better for their class!
