IPL 2010 inaugural match shifted to Mumbai

IPL Chairman and Commissioner on Friday Lalit Modi said the venue for the inaugural match between Deccan Chargers and Kolkata Knight Riders to Navi Mumbai’s DY Patil stadium from Hyderabad’s Rajiv Gandhi International stadium. As per the original schedule, the opening game, slated for March 12, was to be played between Deccan Chargers and Kolkata Knight Riders. He confirmed that the only match that has been shifted out of Hyderabad is the opening one. Security reasons in Andhra Pradesh was cited as the reason for shifting the venue.

Feroz Shah Kotla is also being continued on the venue list for IPL as originally planned. According to Modi, “The Delhi Cricket association is doing its best, with support from us [IPL], to prepare good pitches in time for the tournament. Practice games will commence at the Kotla from February 1.”
