IPL Player Auction on Jan 8 & 9
It’s time to build the team.
The Player auction for the IPL 2011 season will be held on January 8 and 9 in Mumbai, according to the IPL governing council, which met today. With the teams rebuilding from almost scratch, the auction is likely to be on a grand scale much like the first one held in 2008.
Announcing the timings, BCCI vice-president Rajiv Shukla said that the rules set in September 2010 will be applicable in the auction. Interestingly, the auction was supposed to be held this month. However, it had to be postponed due to uncertainty over the total team composition of the tournament. Shukla, however added that the 2011 IPL will have 8 participating teams.
