Pride and Performance. In the lines of the famous advertisement, it was Australian for Pride that inspired an electric performance in the field. The Australian white-wash of the Men in Blue turned many faces red.

The famous Australian pride is visible in this T20 World Cup and the way the Aussies are performing in every match seems they are bent on capturing the all-elusive T20 Championship of the world. Being seeded ninth in cricket doesn’t fit the Aussie scheme of things!

Pride walked over attitude on this day, as India displayed a defeatist attitude midway through the Australian first innings. The red faces in the Indian camp, specially, Zaheer Khan and Ravindra Jadeja left the camp all at sea. When it was time to wield the willow, only Rohit Sharma roared like a lion while the rest crumbled like a cookie under the bulldozer. Big names of IPL like Vijay, Gambhir, Raina, Yusuf, Dhoni were done in either by the rising deliveries or for the fear for them. Lot depended on Yuvraj who apparently found his form but was blinded on this day.

While I thought winning the toss was vital, but opting to bowl first wasn’t that brilliant.
Even if Dhoni made the choice on the basis of an early morning start and the ball presumably would be doing a bit, it was baffling to see Harbhajan Singh opening the innings! The whole plot was lost there, though Harbhajan used all his experience to bowl brilliantly in the innings.

The batting strategy demanded the Indians to stick around, but they gave the impression that the dug-out seats were better suited. Such was the hurry! As a result it was a 49 runs defeat and a lagging Net Run Rate of (-2.450). The NRR will be crucial in the race to the final four if teams are tied on points.

In the next two games against West Indies and Sri Lanka, Dhoni and company have to win handsomely. Let's get back the winning attitude!
