Jaydev Unadkat included for series against Australia
Left-arm fast bowler Jaydev Unadkat has made his way into India’s limited-overs squad for the upcoming series against Australia, replacing seamer Umesh Yadav.
The series is set to begin with a solitary T20I on October 10, followed by 7 ODIs, the first of which will be played in Pune on October 13. 21-year old Unadkat has come a long way since what was a forgettable Test debut in South Africa in 2010, where the teenager was exposed to difficult conditions. He then returned to domestic cricket and honed his bowling skills, a move that helped him regain his lost confidence.
Earlier this year, Unadkat had a fruitful ODI series against Zimbabwe, finishing as the second highest wicket-taker with 8 wickets in 5 ODIs. He then toured South Africa with the A side, but ended up with average figures. However, in the home series against West Indies A, Unadkat bagged a 8 wickets in 4 matches that included a five-wicket haul.
Vinay Kumar, who had a decent run of form in the recently concluded Challenger Trophy with 8 wickets, has also managed to keep his place in the squad.
