Jumbo starts his second innings, now as KSCA President

Anil Kumble starts a new chapter in Indian cricket. After bringing glory to the nation in the cricketing field, Jumbo now starts his second innings as a cricket administrator when he and his team comprising of ex-cricketers Javagal Srinath and Venkatesh Prasad won the rights to head the Karnataka State Cricket Association.

Kumble and company decided to jump into the administrative roles a few weeks back as they thought they could contribute immensely to the development of cricket. Surely they could and now they will, as on Sunday Kumble and company swept through the KSCA elections winning 22 of the 24 seats. The moment the ex-cricketers jammed up and decided to contest the elections, it was a foregone conclusion about a change in the KSCA guard. Rahul Dravid too batted for Kumble and made his intentions clear.

After winning, Kumble said, "Our idea is to make the KSCA a model association," according to reports. "The challenge is to ensure that we deliver. We'd like to include all the members' inputs," he said, indicating his intentions of bringing holistic and inclusive development programmes in cricket for the state.

Kumble being the President and Javagal Srinath being the secretary brings oodles of confidence in State's cricket as their experience of the game will be a treasure pool to be explored. Venkatesh Prasad has won the post of vice-president too. Roger Binny, the Indian World Cup winning team member of 1983, said, "It's a victory that will change the perception of sportsmen entering sports administration. Personally for me, this is one of the sweetest victories in an election."
