Kallis steady in Dravid's 150th Test

Jacques Kallis played a cautious unbeaten 81 on the first day of the third and decisive Test at Newlands which is incidentally Rahul Dravid's 150th Test match for India. It proved lucky for India, as MS Dhoni ultimately won a toss in Test cricket which prompted India to opt for bowling first on a wicket that provided ample grass on a cloudy morning. Indian pacers, especially Sreeshanth bowled with heart to dismiss the dangermen Hashim Amla and AB de Villiers after Zaheer Khan took care of Proteas skipper Graeme Smith. But Kallis stood like a rock and played a steady knock as rain threatened intermittently throughout the first session of first day's play.

South Africa laboured to 232/4 at stumps with Kallis stroking to 81 compiled from 169 balls with six hits to the fence. With India starting positively, stage is set for a fitting finale of the Test series locked at 1-1 and cricketing prestige of the two nations, more than the rankings at stake.
