Karnataka and Tamil Nadu tie thriller
Karnataka and Tamil Nadu shared honours in their Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy Tournament match played at Shimoga, Karnataka which ended in a tie on Tuesday. The hosts and Tamil Nadu both managed to post totals of 150/7 in 20 overs.
Opener Mayank Agarwal hit 19 runs (17b, 3X4), before being dismissed in the 6th over. Wickets fell regularly in the Karnataka innings before Karun Nair hit 51 (38b, 3X4, 2X6), adding 44 for the 6th wicket with CM Gautam (27, 15b, 5x4).
In the defense, Abhimanyu Mithun was the most successful bowler for his team, taking 3 wickets off 29 runs, restricting the opposition after Abhinav Mukund (42, 40b, 2X4) and Dinesh Karthik (37, 25b, 2X4, 1X6) had built the Tamil Nadu chase with a 4th wicket partnership of 62 runs in 8 overs. Skipper Vinay Kumar returned the most economical bowler, conceding only 26 runs in his 4 over spell and taking one wicket. Crucially, he bowled the last over, restricting Tamil Nadu and running out a rampaging Yo Mahesh (16, 8b, 3x4) who was threatening to close the game for TN.
Karnataka will now play Hyderabad while Tamil Nadu will take on Andhra in the coming matches.
