Karnataka earns 3 points in drawn encounter

Karnataka earned 3 points by virtue of their first innings lead against Baroda in the Ranji Trophy Super league match which ended here today at Mysore. However, Karnataka perhaps lost the golden opportunity of securing an outright win as they batted for quiet some time of the morning session on the last day, thereby losing the advantage of exploiting the early morning moisture over the Baroda batsmen. Having already secured a 390 runs lead, Karnataka could have declared overnight to have a go at Baroda and hunted for the outright victory. Instead, skipper Vinay Kumar chose to give his batsmen invaluable batting practice, and in the process also scored another 50 himself. Karnataka eventually declared at 391/8, challenging Baroda to overhaul 472 runs to win the match in three sessions. Baroda, played safe to reach 151/3 at stumps while Vinay Kumar employed nine of his team members to bowl, but without much success.
