Karnataka enters Ranji semis

Karnataka entered the semi-finals of Ranji Trophy with an outright victory over Madhya Pradesh here today, winning by 5 wickets. However, Karnataka made heavy weather of the 177 run chase as they were wobbling at 109/5 at one time before Amit Verma ( and CM Gautham prevent any further damage and guided the team to victory.

Batting has been an area which needed immediate attention for Karnataka if they want to be Ranji Champions this year. Robin Uthappa (37) got a start but failed again to make it big. Manish Pandey, the star in last year's campaign, was found wanting with the bat again in the second innings.

However, a combined team effort made amends as Karnataka entered the semifinals. They now face Baroda from January 3 for a place in the finals.

Defending champions Mumbai are ousted by Rajasthan in another quarter-final. Rajasthan now faces Tamil Nadu in the other semi-final.
