Karun Nair leads from the top
Karun Nair scored back to back fifties to help Karnataka go to the top of the points table in the 2012 South Zone Inter State Under-22 Tournament being played at Visakhapatnam.
In Karnataka U-22’s first game of the tournament against Goa U-22 he anchored a successful chase with an unbeaten 53* (59b, 6x4, 1x6). His knock helped the team reach the small target of 171 with 7 wickets and 15 overs to spare and take a bonus point.
He took 2/42 as Kerala U-22 were restricted to 234/4 in their 50 overs in Karnataka U-22’s second game. Karnataka had been reduced to 21/2 in the chase when Nair walked in to bat. He added 117 for the third wicket with Shishir Bhavane, making a quick 58 off 45b (7x4, 1x6).
Bhavane (61, 73b, 5x4, 2x6) and Shreyas Gopal (54, 58b, 6x4, 1x6) chipped in with half centuries of their own to help Karnataka post 239/5 comfortably and go to the top of the points table with 18 points.
