Karun Nair puts in another strong all-round performance

Karun Nair continued to make his case for being a part of RCB’s playing XI in IPL 6, scoring 134 and taking 2/60 for State Bank of Mysore in their KSCA Group II, Division I Super League game against Canara Bank.

Manjunath MK scored 50, Nair scored a brisk 134 while B Akhil and Anirudh Joshi made supporting 40s as State Bank of Mysore piled up a massive 356/8 in their 50 overs.

Coming on the same day that South Africa successfully chased a total of 434 against Australia in 2006, Canara Bank came close in overhauling the 356 run target. Three batsmen – Shyam Ponnappa (57), Rohan Kadam (50) and BA Vinay (51*) hit fifties while Kunal Kapoor and K Gowtham chipped in with 40s to help Canara Bank make a fist of the chase.

They ultimately fell 19 short of the target, reaching 337/9 at the end of their 50 overs. Anand Katti bowled well in SBM’s defence, taking 4/60 while Nair contributed with 2/60.
