KL Rahul on a century spree
Karnataka opener KL Rahul scored hundreds in both innings against Tamil Nadu in the semifinal of the Moin-ud-Dowla Gold Cup tournament in Mangalore held between 6-8 September.
In the first innings, Rahul struck a patient 110 off 154 balls (11x4, 2x6) to take his side to a total of 387 in 86.5 overs, building crucial partnerships with Mayank Agarwal (44) and Kunal Kapoor (99) while the rest of the side collapsed.
Tamil Nadu responded with 392 for a slim 5-run lead.
Karnataka’s second innings was once again built on a crafty hundred from Rahul (102, 104B, 9x4, 1x6), along with Karun Nair (55) as they managed to put 242 runs on the board.
Karnataka had 238 to defend but rain on the final day meant the match ended in a draw. Tamil Nadu had already the scored the runs they needed though, progressing to the final on the basis of their 5 run first innings lead.
