Tri Nation Series: India vs Sri Lanka

Royal Challenger Virat Kohli put up a splendid performance along with centurion Rohit Sharma as India walloped Sri Lanka by seven wickets and with more than 6 overs to spare to register their first win in the Tri Nation Series in Zimbabwe today.

Set to chase a modest total of 243, Kohli batted with conviction and a desire to succeed in giving company to Rohit Sharma and notch up a 154-run partnership for the third wicket which laid the foundation for the win. Kohli’s 92-ball 62 was laced with only four hits to the fence proving his tenacity in the middle mixed with a cool temperament to stay at the crease.

However, it was Sharma who stole the limelight with a superb century, his second ODI ton in as many matches and remained unbeaten on 101 off 100 balls to guide India to a facile win by 7 wickets. Earlier, disciplined bowlers gave India the edge containing Sri Lanka to only 242 to pave the way for the batsmen.

Brief Scores:

Sri Lanka: 242 all out in 49.5 overs
India: 243/3 in 43.3 overs (Virat Kohli 82, Rohit Sharma 101*)
