Kevin Pietersen got his form back but missed his 17th Test ton by a whisker against a hapless Bangladesh bowling. Prior to this, Pietersen was going through a drop in form in both the Tests and ODIs. Today's knock, although came against a lackadaisical Bangladesh bowling and fielding, must have brought the smiles back Pietersen's face and more importantly to Team Royal Challengers' coach Ray Jennings. KP is supposed to join Team RC immediately after the Bangladesh tour and his form with innovative batting skills is what Jennings hoping to be delivered. Pietersen will join the team at a crucial juncture of the IPL when he will be pressed into service to boost the Team. Though Team RC rolled to the finals of IPL last year after Pietersen left after five matches for his international commitments, but as skipper Anil Kumble opined earlier, "KP is too important a player to miss out."
An interesting aspect of KP's game today against Bangladesh was that he was playing lot of shots through the off side mid-off area - a feature which was not much within his radar earlier. KP is magnanimous through the legs and mid-on, mid-wicket areas. A change of tactics and strategy might have helped KP to be amongst the runs again.
We also welcome KP and hope he delivers the goodies in IPL.
