Manish 144: Job well done Pandey ji!

Manish Pandey signalled his arrival in the domestic season with sizzling century against Orissa propelling Karnataka to 348/5 at the end of day 2 in the domestic Ranji League. Coming at the fall of skipper Ganesh Satish when Karnataka was tottering at 48/4 and with the crisis deepening further at 54/5, Manish eked out a brilliant partnership of 294 with wicketkeeper Gautam to rescue Karnataka.

Kevin Pietersen scored a decent 43 in England's first innings score of 260 on the first day of the first Test against Australia in The Ashes, which got underway today. The highlight of the day was a Test hattrick by Peter Siddle which rattled England. Alistair Cook (67) and Ian Bell (76) were the other notable English contributors. Australia replied with 25/0 at stumps on the first day.

It was a brilliant display of aggression mixed with caution and patience to remain unbeaten on 144 at stumps. Pandey's run continued for 223 deliveries laced with 12 hits to the fence along with five 6s to register his first century of this season. Gautam also showed amazing maturity while remaining unbeaten on 144, same as Pandey. Karnataka started the day on the wrong note dwindling at 54/5 with Robin Uthappa coming up as a cropper with a 9. But Pandey-Gautam partnership not only ensured the first innings lead for Karnataka but also raising hopes for an outright victory. If the lead can be extended to beyond 250, Karnataka can then press for an outright victory by bowling Orissa out in the second innings.

It's a job well done Pandey ji!

He is far too inconsistent,i fear he is another uthappa in dis-guise.A player with more than ordinary talents but not just utilising it to the fullest extent!!!
