Mayank Agarwal and Asad Pathan slam tons in IPL build up
Mayank Agarwal scored a quickfire ton in a KSCA Group II, Division I Super League match on Monday in Bangalore while Asad Pathan hit a century in the KC Mahindra Memorial Shield Invitation Cricket Tournament on Wednesday in Mumbai.
DTDC Sports Club posted 286/4 in 39 overs thanks to Mayank Agarwal’s blitzkrieg of a knock, the batsman smashing 138 off 90 balls with twelve 4s and eight 6s.
Their opponents Canara Bank put up a spirited chase thanks to Bharath Chipli’s 97 off 57 balls but they fell short of the target, reaching 283/7 in their 39 overs to lose the thriller by just 3 runs.
Meanwhile in Mumbai, Asad Pathan’s 112 helped his team Western Railways beat Indian Oil Sports Club by 52 runs.
With Western Railways bowled out for 296 in 49.3 overs, Indian Oil fancied their chances of chasing down the total successfully as their big name batsmen including former Royal Challengers Bangalore batsman Wasim Jaffer and Ajinkya Rahane scored 69 and 81 respectively.
WR’s bowlers however fought back strongly to take crucial wickets and Indian Oil slid to be bowled out for 244 in the 46th over to give WR a 52 run win.
