Karnataka opening batsman Mayank Agarwal announced himself on first-class debut with an impressive 90 as the Group A Ranji fixture against Jharkhand ended in a draw on November 10 at Mysore.

Karnataka opening batsman Mayank Agarwal announced himself on first-class debut with an impressive 90 as the Group A Ranji fixture against Jharkhand ended in a draw on November 10 at Mysore.

The toss was won by Karnataka, who elected to field at the Gangotri Glades Cricket Ground on Day 1. Jharkhand were all-out for a score of 364, with important contributions from Rameez Nemat (68), Saurabh Tiwary (77) and Shahbaz Nadeem (85) who chipped in at the end. The top-order destruction was brough about by KP Appanna who registered figures of 4/75 with an economy of 3.00. Abhimanyu Mithun (1/59) picked up the crucial wicket of Nadeem.

On Day 2, Karnataka responded with a brilliant beginning from Mayank, who in partnership with KL Rahul added 61 runs for the 1st wicket. Later, he batted alongside Kunal Kapoor (49) and also completed his fifty, striking 12 fours and a six. Manish Pandey (52), CM Gautam (42) and Ganesh Satish (63) in the middle order stabilized the innings, but captain Vinay Kumar's useful half-century was the surprise package of the day, which was followed by a sporting declaration with a lead of just 60 runs.

Jharkhand's 2nd innings began on the penultimate day and went on till the final day of the match. At 215/5, Jharkhand declared their innings that eventually resulted in a draw. KP Appana, Vinay Kumar and Abhimanyu Mithun picked a wicket each.

Karnataka have added 3 points to their tally and are placed in fifth position in Group A.
