Mithun scripts victory for Karnataka
Abhimanyu Mithun emerged as the hero on the last day as Karnataka, on expected lines, scripted an outright victory against Orissa in the Ranji Trophy super league match and earn full 6 points. Mithun captured 4/79 as Orissa tumbled to 279 all out and lose the match by an innings and 33 runs.
A stoic Niranjan Behera was the man Karnataka wanted as he was battling with his life perhaps to save Orissa. But Mithun removed him rattling his stumps when Behera was on 94 and Orissa on 203. That wicket opened the floodgates, and Orissa were all out for 279, 33 runs away from the first innings lead that Karnataka had.

Another Challenger Sreevats Goswami, playing for Bengal, however, couldn't produce the best with the bat scoring only 18 in Bengal's first innings score of 340/7 in a rain affected match against Gujarat. Bengal, however, garnered 3 points from the match, due to the first innings lead.
